Articles of Association of The Japanese Friends of The Bodleian Library
 AIMS OF THE ASSOCIATION

The aims of the Japanese Friends of the Bodleian are;

1. To provide a link in Japan for those who share a common interest in the Bodleian Library as an international centre of learning.

2. To promote links between the Bodleian Library and academic, library, corporate and other institutions in Japan.

3. To seek ways of supporting and contributing to the work of preservation and acquisition carried on by the library and in particular its body of knowledge on Japan.


 NAME AND SEAT OF THE ASSOCIATION

The name of the association shall be the Japanese Friends of the Bodleian. The seat of the association shall be in Tokyo.


 MEMBERSHIP

The association welcomes as members all who have used the Bodleian or have an interest in its work. Memberships are individual and annually renewable.


 MEMBERSHIP CARD

Membership dues are 5000 yen a year. Members receive a Newsletter from Oxford twice a year. On presentation of a current membership card, Friends may claim a reader's card to use the Bodleian Library & its dependent libraries, without charge (subject to the Library's normal admission requirements). A 10 per cent discount is obtainable in person or by post, on most purchases from the Library's shop.


 COMMITTEE

The committee shall consist of 5-10 members giving due regard to the interests and objectives of the society. It will be responsible for promoting the aims of the Association and for presenting an annual financial report to the membership.


 GENERAL MEETING

There shall be an annual general meeting to discuss the activities and any other business relating to the association.
